Loyalty programmes that work across branches

Upsize Team· 9/29/2026· 3 min read

Many loyalty programmes fail for a boring reason: points earned at one branch cannot be used at another. The customer gives up, and the programme becomes a stack of forgotten cards.

Start with one programme, not one per shop

If you have several branches, run a single programme for all of them. The customer has one balance and one membership, wherever they shop. It is also simpler for your team to explain.

Keep the rules easy to explain

A customer should be able to say in one sentence how they earn points and what they can get. If the rules need a page of small print, most people will not bother. Start simple and adjust once you see how people behave.

Make rewards worth wanting

Rewards do not have to be expensive, but they must feel reachable. A first reward that is close enough to earn quickly gives people a reason to come back.

Let customers see their own points

A customer portal where people check their points and rewards themselves saves your staff from answering the same question at the counter, and keeps the programme in customers' minds between visits.

Connect it to the rest of the customer's story

Loyalty data is most useful next to everything else you know: their chats, their bookings, their purchases. When loyalty shares customers with your CRM, chat and booking, you can thank a member, invite them back or offer a reward at the right moment.

Upsize Loyalty provides points and membership across branches, rewards and redemptions and a customer portal, and works with the rest of the Upsize apps under one login.
